Hello 2022 grads!

Welcome to the 2022 Grad Show Handbook, where you can find answers to most of your questions regarding The Show, your degree exhibition! Feel free to peruse the relevant sections to find more information about all things The Show: installation guidelines, equipment booking, resources and workshops, FAQ sections and more.

For everything graduation-related (including information about the convocation and the grad awards), please visit the info hub on ecuad.ca.

We look forward to being able to celebrate all of your hard work at Emily Carr and to showcase your talents!

2022 The Show Format

The Show 2022 will build on last year’s hybrid format (online and in-person) in order to accommodate those of you finishing your degree remotely and/or those of you creating works that do not translate well to a physical presentation. To make sure we are equitable, we will adjudicate this year’s Grad Awards based on the online platform. In order to be eligible for awards, you will want to make sure that you have strong documentation of your work online.

We can also host an opening event on May 10 as well as other programming revolving around The Show. This goes without saying, but everything we do will be subject to the Provincial Health Orders in May 2022 – if anything changes, you’ll know ASAP.

How to Navigate the Show 2022

  • Online Exhibition: The Show website is the platform where you’ll be able to showcase your work. It’s open to all graduating students from all areas. Go to Online show Info + FAQs for more.

  • Campus Exhibition: This year, we will be able to offer an expanded space (1st and 2nd floors) to showcase your work on campus. We will also host the Reading Room at the Library and have DM screenings at the Reliance Theatre. Students submitting work to be exhibited need to talk to their faculty about their plans, read relevant sections on this website and submit forms by April 10. While it is technically a larger space, we are also working with a single exhibition. In that regard, please be mindful of your proposals and limit them to essential space requirement – you can always use the online platform to showcase the full scope of your graduation projects. You can show your work on campus AND online, you do not have to pick one.

  • You do not need to fill the campus exhibition form for Reading Room submissions and DM Screenings. You do not have to choose.

  • We got you: however you’re planning on engaging with The Show, we have support systems (workshops, resources listed on this website) and are looking to hire peer supports and curatorial liaisons and more (see below)
