Online Exhibition Info + FAQs

The Show website is the online platform to showcase and share your work with peers, friends, family and potential employers, it’s where you can find the work of all this year’s graduating students. As a student, you will be able to make one Project Page to showcase your work, any live events you might be hosting, and your biographical and contact information (as much or as little as you want to share).

All students will receive an invitation to their ECU e-mails to create a sign in to the Show website backend the week of April 25 and will have until May 8 to create a Project Page. Important: You are responsible for creating and customizing your own Project Page.

WordPress 101 + Website FAQs

If you’re new to WordPress:

  • The editor can be overwhelming, but that passes quickly.
  • Although WordPress can be used on a phone or tablet, it’s far better on a desktop or laptop.
  • WordPress is a decent editor, but not a great creative tool. Plan your project page and create some or all of your text beforehand, and then copy/paste it in when you’re ready to start designing.

If you are running into technical problems, you can connect with Damian Oriak (he/him, Website Peer Support) and the Website Developers via slack or via e-mail. Requests will be answered within 24-48 hours.

Here are some steps laid out on the Grad Show Website Help page. When you start uploading your Project Pages, you can keep the help page open in a separate tab to refer to:

FAQ

Q: Can I edit my Project Page once the Virtual Show is live to the public?

Yes, if you find something that needs changing after May 10, you can go in and edit your published Project Page. Make sure to click “Update” to save your changes. If for some reason you need to withdraw your project from The Show, click “Switch to Draft” and it will hide your Project Page from public view.

Q: Can I add new Categories to describe my Project?

No, you’ll need to choose from the existing list of Categories. Because the purpose of the Categories is to help visitors find projects with similar themes, only keywords that were entered by multiple students are included. In some cases we combined or modified keywords to ensure they could apply to multiple projects.

Q: My work is already uploaded to another website. What should I do?

We understand that you may have work which is already uploaded to an external website or service, that you cannot or do not wish to re-upload to your Project Page.

We recommend first checking if your work can be embedded onto your Project Page. See the Embedding Media section on this page for more info.

Otherwise, you can still add a link to your work! We recommend using headings to introduce what you will be linking to, and including a preview image for visitors. Add the link to your external website using a Button block. See an example on the Sample Project with Design Focus.
